I am a single mother of a 14 yearold. I work a part-time job, it don't pay much but it keeps a roof over our heads. My son has medical problems. He has had his colon removed before the polyps turn cancerous. The polyps keep coming back, so to keep them from turning cancerous he has to get his rectal lazzerd every 6 months the rest of his life. I've had to do some repairs toy van but still in need of car repairs. I just replaced my thermostate and a new battery but now it wont start. I was told I need a tune-up and replace the coil from ignition to my mastercylinder needs to be replaced. I am seeking help for Christmas and car repairs. So that way I can take my son to and from dr appointments. Plus be able to take my grandaughter to church like we've been doing for the last year. My son ends up in the hospital a couple of times a year for weeks at a time, so I have to take time off.

You are welcome and you aren't dumb. We all make mistakes in life or something throws us a curve ball we never expected so that is the way it is and we need to find out what we can do next. Ann Landers once said you may not be responisble for how you got to where you are but you are resonsible for doing something about it. I had a good size inhertience and my sister bless her lovely not heart blew it on attornies. So we all somehow can get into the same boat with money..So work on selling your items and remember we may have something lost but we have a brain and hands that work. take care and check out what ekikaseven gave you as she was in the service..

Does anyone out there have a vehicle they are willing to donate to a small family that truly needs help? I have been a single mother for 4 years now, and I have 4 young children. We live in a small village, called Covington Ohio, and we are in desperate need of transportation. Transportation to work, to college, daycare, and to Church... I have faith God will provide the answer through someone who has the help i need, and I appreciate anyone who takes the time to read this post. College is starting in less than two weeks, and without a way there, we have just invested several thousand dollars that i fear will never be able to be paid back, and will have been for nothing if we cant make it to classes. I will take anything that runs, and I thank you so much again for considering my family for your aid. If you have any questions, or just want to find out more about us, please feel free to contact me, i am happy to talk to anyone either able to help, or just needs someone else to speak to.
I know how you feel we have two disabled boys and it is very hard to get the kind of help you need. My boys miss out on a lot because the angencies eat up all the funds for our kids, I think the government should give the families the funds for our disabled kids. Our Prayers are with you and yours always.
My husband's friend was in an accident in April 08. He is in need of a handicap van. He is a Gulf War ve. t and has 2 children. and a wife. Any help greatly appreciated.
My dad fell and broke his neck on November 29, 2007. He is now quadriplegic and requires a wheelchair. He desperately needs a wheelchair accessible van for transport to doctors appointments and things that of that nature. We are located in Virginia if that makes a difference. If anyone has any information that could help us it would greatly be appreciated. My email is ted_sparks@hotmail.com. Thanks and God Bless
I have a paraplegic brother in the hospital for two years ready to come out of the Mayo Clinic and we do not have the finances for a wheelchair van. Any help is greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Gary.
Ms. DiStefano, please call me. I'm not sure yet, but I may donate my present 2000-Econoline 250 van to an agency or deserving individual once I get my new one; which I hope to have sometime in the Spring of 2009. It rides well and has around 110,000 miles right now. My number is 251-510-2372-Regards, Mike
I think I posted this as a reponse so sorry if you read this twice. I'm a mother of 3 great kids, two of whom (twins) have disablities. My twins both are in wheelchairs, althought one can walk for short distances with a walker. I had to stop working full time as an RN due to all the surgeries (14 combined), and doctors appointment ect. My husband is a fireman and works odd jobs on his days off to try and make ends meet. We are in debt due to our situation, but I'm not asking for assitance for that. The hardest thing for me is the inability to give my children a chance to do things that other kids do. We need a wheelchair accessible van that will hold two wheelchairs (full size van with a lift), and they cost 50 -60 thousand dollars. There is no way we can afford to buy that. I just want to be able to take my kids th the zoo or shopping ect. Right now they are stuck at home except for going to school or the doctor. If anyone can help I would be eternally grateful.

I am sorry to hear about you and Sara, it looks like you really need a good handicap van. I hope I am not too late whit my response, I hear you can find such vans on the market and they are a great deal of help for the owners. You should take a closer look. handicap van
My husband and I both work full time and are in great need of a car. We have four children and nothing to drive at all. In desperate situations we have had to borrow from family. I have a bachelors degree and have been working hard to find a teaching position for this fall, and my husband is studying to be a minister, so we aren't lazy, we just don't have a large lump of money to buy a car right now. We are hoping that there is someone who would be willing to let us make payments over a few months. We do a lot of driving, so it would have to be trustworthy. Please let me know if you might be that person.

In working on enhancing my clients quality of life, I think it's appropriate to inquire about an accessible vehicle. More so, a donation of an accessible van.
Can anyone tell me which organizations/individual could possibly be willing to donate a wheelchair accessible van for my client.
I do not know how to write a grant nor am I a "501 c 3"and I don't have use of an umbrella. I'm a 24 hour a day live in caregiver.
My client is physically and mentally, permanently disabled. She rides a power chair and is in need of an accessible van to be transported to/from home and to/from appointments in record time.
She would also appreciate having the ability to go to zoos, gardens and possibly other such outings. She loves animals and flowers.
For the past three years she hasn't been able to go anywhere other than to her physicians and other specialists offices.
She doesn't care for television so keeping her amused can be quite the challenge.
Having personal transportation will enable me to carry her necessities to ensure un-compromised health while traveling. The vehicle will ensure her comfortable, safe and quick transport to and from each destination as it is critical that she be in early reach of her medical providers.
She deserves to experience life outside of home. It will be wonderful to hear the laughter in her voice and see radiant joy in her eyes as she visits her most favorite mammals. (Whales and Dolphins) She believes that she becomes the flowers that she observes. "full of life and beauty."
Privacy laws don't allow me to provide details of her disabilities to the public. If you are able to assist she is willing to sign a release form so you can confirm her disabilities.
------- If you know of anyone at all that may be willing to donate an already accessorized vehicle, a van that can be, or possibly even the money to purchase one please forward this page to them or let me know so I can apply for her.
Thank you so much, I appreciate your time and consideration in this matter.

My name is Dona DiStefano and I am writing about my husband Robert DiStefano. We are 27 years old and my husband has been disabled since birth. He was born with a disability called Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. He is unable to feel from his knees down, and is wheelchair bound. In June of 2004 he had to have his right leg amputated to about mid-calf due to an infection that was in the foot going into the bone. He healed shortly after but because he is unable to walk when he transfers back and forth from his wheelchair to the car or to the steps to go up stairs on his behind it drags on the floor. Because of this he has a wound on his leg that has been there again since March of this year (2005) He was recently in the hospital for three weeks, during which time for 8 days he was on a ventilator. While on the ventilator he had 4 grand mal seizures. Being has he was in the hospital for so long laying on his back he has no upper body strength to transfer himself from the hospital bed we have downstairs in his mother's living to his wheelchair. He has to have assistance, and in order to go back and forth to doctor's appointments we have to borrow our friends van who is also disabled. It has a ramp so that he can roll up into the van without ever having to transfer. He will be going back into the hospital next week for a skin grafting on the leg which means he definitely will not be able to transfer into our car any longer. We are paying on 2002 nissian sentra and it is very low to the ground. If he transfers into or out of it the leg drags on the floor. Being married and him being on social security I can only make a 1,700 dollars a month in order for him to keep his medical insurance, but he only gets about 100.00 a month from the social security administration some months depending on what I made. The most is just over 200.00. If there is any way that you would be able to help us get a wheelchair acessible van I would greatly appreciate it. This way he doesn't feel like he is isolated in his house unable to go out with friends or out with his family for functions outside of the house. Thank you for your time and consideration.
My husband and I have custody of our three granddaughters, ages 10, 8, & 5. I am now disabled due to osteoarthritis throughout my body. Sara our 10 yr. old is also disabled due to arthrogryposis at birth. We are in desperate need of a wheelchair accessible van, so that I can get Sara around to different places. Sara is very intelligent, and is often selected for different school functions or events. I have no way of getting her around in her wheelchair. Our income has become very limited, due to my disibility. Please help!
